Abstract

Piezoelectric sensors were used to study the vibration signal transition. Thanks to their use, it was possible to record the diagnostic information contained in the vibration signal passing through the element. The aim of the study was to test the effectiveness of assessing the degradation of tested brick elements based on the surface areas of the obtained FRF functions and stabilization diagrams. The experiment was carried out on 20 solid brick samples, half of which were intentionally damaged, allowing determination of the variability in the vibration measurements. The research confirmed the usefulness of piezoelectric sensors and experimental modal analysis methodology in detecting damage to masonry elements.
